Because effective communication is everything, I will share some critical tips with you over the next couple of days.
1. Improve your Body Language (Appearance) and Tone (Presentation)
As the saying goes, ‘the first impression is the last impression’, hence you should always be careful when it comes to body language i.e your appearance and tone i.e presentation.
Effective communication consists of 93% non-verbal communication. So, if you’re your non-verbal communication is OFF or not in sync with your words, you would be sending negative or the wrong signals to the other person, the communication will probably break down in the process.
Also ensure that you do not bring any physical, emotional or psychological barriers between you and the other person. Barriers such as language and vocabulary, religion, culture and tradition; disinterest in the subject or person; your experience and education; your emotions and mood and finally your values and beliefs will create distractions and can make the communication process uncomfortable and ineffective.
Measure Your Ability to Communicate Effectively
Exercise: On a scale of 0-10, how would you rate your ability to communicate with the right body language, tone and words at most times?
How to Score: Rate yourself on a scale of 0 – 10 (0 being very poor and 10 being excellent).
NOTE: If you score less than 6, you have a lot to learn to develop your effective communication skills and you need communication coaching. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or all 08077077000 NOW.
