For death is no more than a turning of us over from time to eternity.
~ William Penn
“Missing someone gets easier every day because even though it’s one day further from the last time you saw each other, it’s one day closer to the next time you will”
As I Visit the Families of those who lost their lives in yesterday’s Fatal Dana plane crash from Abuja to Lagos, my heart is heavy and I cast my mind back to the 1st Ever plane Crash in Nigeria in 1969.
Unfortunately my father was on that flight – I was only 2 yrs old.
What could anyone have done or told his family, friends, colleagues, my mother and siblings to take the pain away?
Nothing Really !!!!
God is the Ultimate Comforter; He often Works through us by His Spirit, at Painful Times like this.
Nobody can Live Forever; We will ALL die someday……….
As we Comfort others, We Ourselves are Comforted.
Let us Imagine these Words being Whispered by the Departed;
May we ALL Find Succour in them:
“Death is Nothing At All
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I, and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are”.
“Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow”.
“Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it”.
“Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?”
“I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.
All is well”.
